Dale-Chall Readability Formula

Knowledge

The Dale-Chall Readability Formula predicts prose difficulty from the share of unfamiliar words and the average sentence length. It flags possible lexical and syntactic burden for editors. The 1948 and 1995 versions differ, and neither score proves that readers understand a message or can act on it.
