Dale-Chall familiar-word list

Knowledge

The Dale-Chall familiar-word list is a reference set of about 3,000 words that young elementary pupils were judged to know. In the formula, words outside the list count as difficult even when readers know them, so changing the list or its derivative rules changes readability results.
