Homophily

Knowledge

Homophily is patterned association among similar actors. It shapes which information and experiences travel through relationships. Diagnosis compares observed similarity with available contacts and investigates selection, influence, and structural constraints; a homogeneous network alone proves neither preference nor exclusion, and similarity is not automatically harmful.

Identifies a bounded pattern in judgment, behavior or communication and the conditions under which it appears. Naming the pattern makes a recurring difficulty recognizable; it does not make the pattern inevitable or supply a complete explanation.
