Nonverbal Immediacy Scale (NIS)

Knowledge

The NIS measures frequency of perceived nonverbal immediacy through parallel self and observer forms. Its twenty-six items yield one overall keyed total from 26 to 130. Higher scores do not establish competence or appropriate conduct, and interpretation must preserve perspective, context, cultural meaning, accessibility, and boundaries.
