Illusion of Transparency

Knowledge

The Illusion of Transparency concerns overestimating the visibility of private feelings. A speaker’s vivid experience can exceed the evidence available to listeners. Checking what recipients understood helps calibrate communication without assuming that every emotion is hidden or that fuller disclosure is always appropriate.
