Excuses (account giving)

Knowledge

Excuses acknowledge undesirable conduct while denying or reducing responsibility for it. Claims of accident, limited knowledge or control, and other agents’ involvement can perform this function. An excuse’s plausibility or social acceptance does not establish whether the explanation is factually accurate.
