The listening goal may be wrong
Four listening goals reveal situational preferences without proving accuracy empathy or overall competence.
Premise
Organizations often praise one listening style as universally superior. The Listening Styles Profile-Revised replaces that assumption with four goals that can help or hinder depending on the interaction: relational, analytical, task-oriented, and critical listening. Its executive value lies in flexibility. A profile can identify an orientation that dominates a particular setting, but it cannot establish that someone understood accurately, demonstrated empathy, or belongs to one immutable listener type.
