Reopen the conclusion to the evidence
Tracing selected data, meanings, assumptions, conclusions, and beliefs lets disagreement test reasoning instead of colliding at the level of certainty.
Premise
The Ladder of Inference makes a hidden compression in organizational communication visible. People cannot attend to every available fact; they select observations, add meaning, make assumptions, draw conclusions, form beliefs, and act. By the time conflict reaches a meeting, each side may be defending a conclusion several inferential steps away from the events that originally mattered. The ladder gives executives a way to reopen that chain without pretending that interpretation can be eliminated.
