Responsive is not the same as understanding
Sensing processing and responding reveal different listening perspectives without certifying empathy or competence.
Premise
Visible encouragement can create the appearance of listening while relational cues are missed or the message is poorly integrated. The Active-Empathic Listening Scale changes the executive diagnosis by separating three linked processes: sensing, processing, and responding. It can show where a listener’s self-perception, a partner’s experience, or observable behavior differs. The measure supports more precise inquiry; it does not prove accurate understanding, ethical conduct, or a general empathy trait.
