Knowledge

Empathy concerns understanding another person’s perspective or sharing aspects of their emotional experience while recognizing it as theirs. Researchers differ in whether they include cognitive perspective-taking, affective sharing, or both. Understanding another’s experience does not require agreeing with their judgment.
